FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL

This experimental motion piece explores the visual rhythm of natural growth through the interplay of live-action footage and hand-drawn animation. Centered around the theme of plants in motion, the work combines keyed-out botanical footage with fluid, organic linework that guides the viewer’s eye across the screen.

Using a restrained, monochromatic color palette, I emphasized texture contrast to create visual tension and cohesion. The hand-drawn elements were animated frame by frame and designed to interact directly with the plant forms—wrapping around stems, echoing leaf shapes, and morphing in response to the footage’s movement. These lines serve as both compositional guides and symbolic extensions of growth, binding the digital and analog layers together.

This piece reflects my ongoing interest in blending natural imagery with expressive motion, where the boundary between live footage and illustration is deliberately softened to evoke a poetic, tactile experience.
